Helen Lederer’s ‘One Night Stand’, premieres in London at the Richmond Theatre…
Helen and Tim met while appearing in the popular ‘Laughtermakers’, along side Barry Cryer. Tim’s combination of exceptional musical talent, slap stick comedy and dance routines; provide the perfect accompaniment to Helen’s razor-sharp humour.
Tim McArthur is “already a star, but no longer in the making”. He has worked along side some of the top comedians in the country. He has appeared on many occasions in the West End, with his own one-man show. With a career in television presenting in the pipeline, “this star will only get higher in the sky”…

One Night Stand with Helen Lederer Richmond Theatre
“HOUNSLOW on acid” was Helen Lederer’s opening verdict on the Richmond, location for the premiere of her latest comedy show, One Night Stand.
Happily my frequent out breaks of laughter during the performance were not drug induced, owing everything to an entertaining evening in the company of Miss Lederer-who has been touring the West End with her show-and talented support Tim McArthur-himself, fresh from his stint at the Jermyn Street theatre in Piccadilly.
Most famous for her numerous TV performances in successful comedy series like Absolutely Fabulous and Naked Video, Lederer delivered a smooth stand-up routine interspersed with appearances from her band of charming comic creations.
Her sharp observations belied the claim she “didn’t get out much” and the characterisations of the Holiday Rep from Hell (“your taramasalata-flavoured condoms are over there…”) and over-zealous voiceover artiste were particularly good.

Self-styled “inspiration to Jayne Macdonald” Tim McArthur (ably accompanied by Nathan Martin on piano) quickly developed a rapport with the audience, a great voice and assured comic timing enabling him to leave you hanging on his every word.
A triumphant Eurovision medley and 60’s classics like Downtown were performed with panache, but the highlight was a hilarious ode to Hollywood heart throb Leonardo DiCaprio (“You didn’t panic/On the Titanic”).
Lively banter between the two performers sustained the show’s impressive momentum throughout, ending with a clever duet.
Arguably the pair did not spend enough time on stage together, depriving the audience of more of their likeable chemistry, but this one-off show proved popular enough for a suitable ovation.
When the curtains went down the inevitable after-show party loomed unveiling celebrities in such as Dawn French and comedy poet John Hegley.
This was a one-night-stand that will linger long and fondly in the memory.
